I discovered today that they needed my address so they could send me a letter. I won't copy the whole letter in as it's pretty long but the first paragraph started with... I am writing to inform you that having taken legal advise (their spelling, not mine) following a totally fabricated Google review by yourself, I am no longer in a position to honour your expired voucher....

But, my initial issue with a voucher that was a couple of days out of date, the lack of a call from them for a couple of weeks (albeit possibly due to a honeymoon) and the fact I have now received a letter quoting the words "Legal Advice" leaves a sour taste. To cap it all off, the letter ends with them requesting I remove this review.

I have been getting pedicures and manicures at Gilly's for over two years now. It is a lovely friendly salon and the treatments are excellent. It is so much cosier than the pretentious 'trendy' salons around and it is great to be able to switch your mobile off for an hour or so and know that you are going to be so well looked after. I have been coming to see Dave for hot stone massage for the past 6 months. He is always friendly and welcoming. The regular massage has been wonderful and really made a difference to my back pain. I now feel more flexible and relaxed. I can highly recommend. Val Arbon. Wimborne.

Don't get me wrong, they are quite right to legally refuse my expired voucher, I don't dispute that. They also pointed out they were on their honeymoon for the last couple of weeks, maybe they were, I don't know.

I have been going to Dave for massages every 2 weeks for over 4 years now. My first massage was a gift voucher which I didn't forget to use before it ran out. I'm so glad that I went for that initial appointment because since then Dave has been able to find trigger points in my neck, back and arms to alleviate pain and stiffness. My job as a decorator requires full mobility and over the past 30 years my work has taken its toll on my neck, back, arms etc. It's due to regular visits to Dave for a hot stone massage that I'm able to keep working properly.

I upgraded this review from a 2 star to a 3 star due to the call requesting me to book the massage, had they followed through with that, and if the massage was worthy, it would have turned in to a 5 star one. However, threatening legal letters sadly takes it back to a 2 star one.

They seem to think I have it in for them but I haven't, they also claim they didn't refuse to accept it. However, initially my wife was told they don't accept expired vouchers but they may be able to make an exception and would call to confirm, quite some time passed and I heard nothing, hence my review.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Called to book but was told Gillian wasn't there to take bookings, they then asked for my phone number so they could call me back the next day to arrange, also asked for my address which was a little odd.

Received a massage voucher as a gift but called to book two days after expiry as forgot I had it, as the company is clearly a small operation and would welcome future bookings I expected the date not to be an issue, unfortunately it was and they refused to accept it. I can't comment on the massages as never received one but they wouldn't go down in my book as "decent" people, if they were they would have honoured the bought and paid for voucher, albeit two days out of date.

I have been going to Gillian's for 20 years and she is always professional, charming and very friendly. The salon may be small and run by newly wed husband and wife team, but I truly believe that this is what makes it special and you therefore get a truly personal experience; you don't just feel like another customer. They both work extremely hard and contribute long hours; I know their doors are open at 8am so you can grab an appointment before you start your work day; book your appointments well in advance though because last minute appointments are like gold dust here

I have always found Dave and Gilly friendly, polite and above all very professional in their business. I have recommended them to many of my friends and my customers all of which have praised their treatments.

Again, technically they've done nothing wrong, apart from maybe being a little misleading with regard to asking me to call to book just so they could get my address to send me the "Legal Advice" letter.
